The marketing tactic backfired, however, as the large number of models (in addition to those for business) competed with one another, and created customer confusion. Although not a new model, the Performa was a rebranding of then-existing Mac models, including the Classic, Quadra, Centris, LC, and Power Macintosh, and was meant for everyday users. The Mac’s OS, known as System 1.0, introduced the Finder that is still used today.Īpple's Performa sold mainly through authorized retailers in department stores throughout the mid-1990s. It used a Motorola 68000 microprocessor, 128KB of RAM and a 400KB 3.5-inch floppy disk drive. Apple’s Macintosh 128K aimed to fundamentally change how consumers viewed computers and make them more affordable, personal and commonplace. The original Macintosh went on sale two days after Apple's critically acclaimed 1984 ad aired during the third quarter of Super Bowl XVIII. Here, we take a look at the Mac’s evolution throughout the past three decades, with a focus on the rapid changes of the last decade or so, especially as the iMac grew and evolved beyond its original gumdrop design into the 11.5mm-thin, 6-color flat panel machine it is now. (And it's been more than 20 years since the first iMac was unveiled.) From just 128KB of memory in the first Mac (to as much as 16GB in the 2021 iMac 24), Apple has continually redefined its products from design and aesthetics to functionality and productivity. It's been more than 30 years since the arrival of Apple’s Macintosh computer - the Mac - which has evolved substantially, especially over the past decade.

One of the main questions that came to mind before watching the film again was how it survived the passage of time. In this sense, the viewer can see it in different directions. The presence of loveĪmélie isn’t only about altruism but also about love. In her quest to find the owner of the metal box hidden for 40 years in her apartment, she discovers that the best way to find happiness is to improve the lives of those around her. The finding inspires lonely Amélie’s ultimate goal: to help others. This news is there as a form of irony to present how Amélie, to her amazement, finds a child’s treasure in her Montmartre apartment. Amélie is introverted and extraordinarily dreamy and her life changes when she listens to the news of Lady Di’s tragic accident. She’s a young woman who, despite living in Paris and working as a waitress, maintains her characteristic childhood traits. This presentation helps understand the adult Amélie a little better. In the face of so much sadness, little Amélie takes refuge in a peculiar imaginary world. She’s forced to stay home due to a misdiagnosis. This narrator guides the viewer through a girl’s lonely childhood. Therefore, a voice that knows the lives of the characters well and invites you to discover them through their peculiarities. Likewise, there’s an omniscient narrator. Thus, Jeunet introduces the heroine as the only daughter of a married couple that didn’t pay attention to her. In fact, viewers get to watch a rather dark past and a lonely childhood, although with comic overtones, just as it happens with most heroes. Amélie is creative and original, so the film set a precedent.Īs it usually happens in stories and in the most archetypal construction of the hero, Amélie is presented from the beginning. Above all, there lies a somewhat peculiar yet captivating love story. The strange and the common merrily merge. The beauty of the photography and attention to detail welcome you to a modern fairy tale. A character who, as the promotional posters for the film point out, is there to change people’s lives. Who can forget the soundtrack by Yann Tiersen? Or the garden gnomes, the Saint-Martin canal, and the café where Amélie works? They’re all memorable to the audience.Īmélie is an endearing and bizarre character who stole everyone’s heart at the beginning of the millennium. It’s charming and has an unmistakable personality overall. Jean-Pierre Jeunet gave the world a truly unusual romantic comedy. In fact, fans of the film go there year after year in order to see the film locations. It’s sort of a myth in the French capital. Since its premiere in 2001, Amélie has been on the rise as an icon of French cinema. Originating from feudal Japan, these flags were used to signify individual army units on the battle field. So while this conveys a mother’s sheer desperation, it is also a reminder of a time in which artists were important enough to include in the most far-reaching welfare programme in US history. Lange made the portrait, currently showing in Capturing the Moment at London’s Tate Modern, while an employee of the US government – she was one of many artists who were paid to document the realities of the Depression as part of New Deal programmes. It has become a touchstone image of 20th-century America, immediately evoking the gritty desolation and human cost of the Great Depression. This iconic portrait of Florence Owens Thompson is both. It signifies the reclaiming of identity and the celebration of womanhood. Sulter captures the essence of female strength and reimagines it through the giving of a name and the act of clothing the subject. What resonates is its sense of growth and empowerment. It is a powerful representation of the women who have shaped my life. As I gaze at Sulter’s portrait, I can’t help seeing my own family reflected in the image: my mother, my aunts, my grandmother. This photograph pays homage to Marie-Guillemine Benoist, an 18th-century French artist who uplifted black female figurative art during a time of slavery. It’s Bonnie Greer (“Portrait d’une Negresse”), by Maud Sulter. And to be a Toyin creation myself, on the walls of the portrait gallery? It’s incredible.” Nicholas Cullinan, NPG directorīonnie Greer (“Portrait d’une Negresse”) by Maud Sulter, 2002 One of my favourite portraits at the National Portrait Gallery is part of the Reframing Narratives exhibition, which celebrates female artists and sitters. Becoming familiar with her images is like having something I missed and wanted in childhood delivered to me now, as an adult. As Smith said: “I know her art will have a tremendous effect on young people because I’m a grown-ass woman and it’s had a tremendous effect on me. It’s also the first work by Toyin to enter a British public collection. Zadie Smith is one of the greatest literary voices of our time and Toyin Ojih Odutola is one of the most exciting artists, so this work is the perfect pairing. Sadie (Zadie Smith) by Toyin Ojih Odutola, 2018-19 This new commission will be shown for the first time at the National Portrait Gallery when it reopens on 22 June. Courtesy of the artist and Jack Shainman Gallery, New York The perfect pairing … Sadie by Toyin Ojih Odutola. Alison Smith, National Portrait Gallery chief curator We watch comedian Sid James on TV in Hancock’s Half Hour, but also see what looks like an invitation to the opening of a Henry Moore exhibition, a CND flyer, as well as adverts for remedies for colds, flu and rheumatism on the coffee table. Sid James by Ruskin Spear, 1962 This collage captures both the funny and sad: how life is made up of grand aspirations and messy little domestic settings. Portraits at the precipice of melancholy or mania are the most attractive to me. The hair is manic but orderly, coiled and framing deep, endless concentric circles of eyes – searching, wondering and staring somehow both at us and into the abyss. I am reminded of the gaping mouth of Munch’s Scream, or the bull in Picasso’s Guernica, given the equine nature of the face. El-Salahi’s work has often delved into the personal and here we see him in a confused, uncertain state of mind. The second most behaved slimes I've had are Honey Hunter largos. I do see them shoot out their cute vine hands out of the ground every once in a while but they still very rarely jump around compared to any other slimes/largos. I got rid of some and replaced them with 12 Rad Tangle slimes and they are still surprisingly well behaved IMO. I had 30 Rad Slimes when I was new in the game and they were so well behaved, I barely even see them jump around. The most behaved slimes I've had are Rad Slimes. The rare ones (Strange Diamond, Lava Dust, and Royal Jelly) may take a decent amount of tries to get even with upgraded extractors so just keep trying and you will get them. What slimes/largos do you prefer taking care of, and what slimes/largos do you like the least? This means that as long as you keep using drills, pumps and apiaries you are guaranteed to get any of these materials regardless of area. The reason for this as they can be obtained anywhere using drills, pumps and apiaries respectively and only vary in rarity. You can also smash some boxes and have a chance at getting any of these foods.Īs for Slime Science resources I will not cover Jellystone, Slime Fossils, Strange Diamond, Primordy Oil, Spiral Steam, Lava Dust, Buzz Wax, Hexacomb, Royal Jelly. The text guide is still exactly the same you need 10 different largos across the farm but the video is misleading right now even though I explain it right in the video as well.įor the sake of shortening down this massive section I am not going to cover the following as they are extremely easy to find and require no explanation to get. I was going for Diversification but stopped when risky business popped up and I didn't realize. Update : It seems I made an error in this video. If you already have a decent amount of largos you can just do something similar to what I do in this video to top off the achievement. Here are 10 mixes of slime you can make to get the achievement with only Moss Blanket slime. If you have a lot of different slime on your ranch it is easy to get enough mixes to reach 10. If you have no largos at all make a bunch of simple mixes you don't have and throw them into a coral without feeding them. I was able to farm every slime I needed in the game with only I think 6-7 largos covering all the plorts I needed at the time (excluding quantum slime which I never farmed as largos on adventure mode). This one is easy but probably overlooked. Thanks for choosing my guide and good luck with the achievements!ĭiversification Have at least 10 types of largos on the Ranch If you loved my guide you can show me some support by subscribing to my youtube channel: I will improve on these details in my next guide! I am also aware that for the Rush Plortmaster achievement video I should have broken it into parts instead of one large upload. Also I put a lot of videos in this guide some of which are not entirely necessary but I like giving the option so people can choose to watch videos or read the text. Note: A lot of these are not difficult, just tedious. I realize the guide is very long and I encourage you to use Ctrl+f in order to find the achievements you are looking to complete rather than scrolling through the entire guide. However, for professional drivers interested in recording the interior of the vehicle, we recommend installing both the front and rear unit on the front windshield or front dashboard. Cut chocolate up into small chunks to make ‘chips’ and store chocolate chips in a Ziplock in the fridge. When hardened, remove the chocolate from the freezer and transfer it to a cutting board.
